Caribbean Hut - Charlotte

**First Impressions:** The person at the counter seemed inattentive and distracted. When I was finally ready to order, I was informed that there were no plantains available. I was quite surprised by this. The staff member didn’t offer any substitute options, which was disappointing. Overall, the food was good. The okra tasted great, despite its appearance. The oxtail served with rice and peas was well-seasoned, although it had a bit more fat than I’m accustomed to. The cabbage was decent, but I had a feeling that it included some canned mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, corn).

I really enjoy the food here. The beef patties are fantastic, and the staff are always friendly. I particularly love the curry chicken and jerk chicken. However, there are times when the jerk chicken is so spicy that I can't handle it. You'll need to pay attention to who is cooking on any given day to know how your food might turn out. Overall, it's one of the better spots for authentic Caribbean cuisine, and I definitely recommend it.

The customer service was outstanding, as they allowed me to enter even when they were closing. However, the most important aspect—the food—was disappointing. My meal was clearly not freshly made; the chicken was tough and seemed to have been reheated in the microwave. The plantains were also unappetizing. I cannot recommend this place with a clear conscience. I really wish they had informed me that the kitchen was closed rather than serving me and charging a decent amount for food that should have been discarded.

First time ever having Jamaican food and let?s just say if this is what it?s supposed to taste like it was amazing lol.

I?m soooo sick of them. They NEVER get my order right. I only go bc it?s the closet one or else I would go the one on North Tryon. The service and the flavor of the food is WAYYY better. WOODLAWN charges you an arm and a leg for the food but fail to deliver the entire meal. They never add plantains to my meal. I called my order in TODAY I always have to ask ?WILL THERE BE PLANTAINS? the lady says ?YES? ok cool! So I get to my destination and NO PLANTAINS. I?m like Done with
