And there weren't 6 vegan dishes to choose, most of which I have seen on every India buffet. They were made clear and if you had any questions, the staff helped you. You have to pay extra for Roti, which didn't matter to me. The food was good and the service was welcoming. Updated by previous review on 2019-11-04
I have visited this restaurant multiple times and was surprised that I had not tried it before. These comments are based on several visits last year. During dinner, I found the staff to be very knowledgeable, offering vegan options for bread and providing recommendations for entree selections. The portions were generous and satisfying. During the lunch buffet, I was impressed to find more than 5 vegan dishes available, far more than any other Indian buffet I have experienced. The vegan options were clearly marked with signs next to each dish, a feature that is rare at other buffets. In conclusion, I believe this restaurant is the top choice for vegan Indian cuisine in Charlottesville.
During a recent event in the city, my friends and I were looking for a restaurant nearby and decided to try Maharaja. We were pleased to find that they offered a Saturday lunch buffet with a wide selection of vegan dishes, which was unusual for an Indian buffet. The staff were helpful in explaining the options and we were able to enjoy a delicious meal. Although roti was not included in the buffet and had to be purchased separately, it did not bother me. Overall, the food was tasty and the service was friendly.
