Otherwise they stay away and go somewhere where the food is prepared with care and the noise level is less challenging. that said the waiting staff is very friendly and the restaurant pleasantly decorated.
Great historical location, relaxed atmosphere in the fresco atmosphere through a fountain. nice eating. fair price, good service. mouse au chocolate for dying!
This is a simple looking place, when we got there, there wefe only 3 other people, but by the time we left they were having to turn people away, no tables left. My wife had beouf bourguignon and I had grilled rump steak. Both meals...were exceptional. My steak was cooked to perfection and was sooo tender and tasty I can still taste it now a week later. If you are in Charolles eat here.
Always good when the locals eat in a restaurant and that was the case. did not have the chouc route and wanted to eat a light lunch. we said that the burgunds never eat a light lunch! my wife, who always ordered the eclectic ate of a horse steak. with and under boiled fried egg above and I went for the entrecôte. can you screw steak and chips? It was okay. the desserts looked terrible, so we came past the boring vanilla custard and went to the coffee. 50 pounds for this was steep, as we only had a glass of wine. at least the hotel maitre d’hotel was amusing and had a little laugh. come back when the d’jour menu has been fanned and it costs 13 euro. much more like it price wise
The 4 marmoins sit at the lower edge of the charolles' historic road. at 30 degrees in the shadow, even in the evening, the decision to sit outside did not require much thought. the young people who served us were charming, attentive and did their...best with our blunt French (assisted by others, liquid, guests . the menu is simple, but good. salate to begin with (one of us chèvre, the other tomato, main course or salmon, and what was on the menu as fish and ships. (our waiter thought this guy was very funny. but there was no discount to show it to the following jocularity. a pichet of house wine is a little risky, but there was nothing wrong at all with the 50cl of côtes du rhone we enjoyed with our fishing (yes, red with fishing that interested? no one in frankly, as far as I can see. all reasonable prices. an unpredictable, honest, trustworthy place recommended. but I wish I knew who or what the 4 marmoins are. must do more homework next time.
