I 'd been warned not to go to a 'Buffalo Grill ' but decided to make my own mind up. There were maybe 6 people in so not busy. I waited 35 minutes for a glass of wine and a beer. Only beer arrived then waited 55...mins for a salad and and a buffalo cow boy. Too add insult to injury, meal was tasteless and I was overcharged on bill for extra beers. Never again
While Buffalo Grill is a chain restaurant, the one at Chateaubriant seemed to me to be better than one might normally expect. We went early in the evening, so that we were the first diners there that evening, so it was disappointing that we had...to wait several minutes for a waiter to appear but, after that, the service couldn't be faulted. He took us to a table which was exactly what I had requested and, although he recognised that I was English, he spoke to me in French, until I needed words I didn't know, then he helped me out, so I got to use my French, but we all understood what he said, because he would use both languages when necessary. He took our drinks order and offered us a starter, which made a pleasant change, because he went off to fetch the drinks while the starter was being prepared, then delivered the drinks and took our main course order, so that, by the time he had that in hand, the starters arrived, which just felt like good planning on his part. He asked whether we were ready for our main courses when he collected the dishes from the starters and the main courses arrived shortly after, but it seemed obvious that, had we said no, they would have been delayed. The food was great. We all got exactly what we had requested, including meat that was cooked exactly as ordered. After we had finished our main course, he came back, to offer sweets, but was at pains to point out that there was no hurry and that he would come back in a little while, for which we were grateful. The sweets were also just as we wanted, including minor changes to sauces to suit our preferences. We didn't have coffee, none of us like the way that coffee is made in France but, overall, the meal was a real treat and we will certainly go back next time we are over there (it is about twenty five miles from our house).
The food is based on American Grill style food. Food is average although the service was very good. With limited French, the staff did their best to accommodate us. English menus are available if required. The pricing is a little on the dear side but...worth a visit for the experience
For meat lovers, don't need reservation, a nice restaurant with cowboy style...large choice of food ( meat , fish, etc. ) and a nice menu for kids
