Song's Buffet - Chelmsford

The ambiance of the restaurant is pleasant and well-decorated. However, we were seated at a table for 4 despite being a party of 5, making it feel cramped. Fortunately, another staff member provided an extra chair. The food variety was disappointing, with some options missing like seaweed calamari. Many dishes were soggy, especially the chips. The prawn toast was overly oily and hard, while the rainbow squid tasted fishy. Even the jelly dessert tasted more like water than fruit. Plates piled up quickly and were not cleared until the end of our meal, making us uncomfortable. It seemed like the staff were more focused on closing up the restaurant rather than attending to guests still dining. Sadly, the quality of the food has decreased since the restaurant first opened, and I would prefer to order Chinese takeout at home next time.

Always have a fab time, love going on a Sunday, always a great varied choice, the food turned over quickly when running low , staff are very pleasant and helpful, also the lovely bartender, massive shoutout to him, always polite and makes a lush rum and coke , also cocktails, love it Obviously lunch time menu is half the price , but still plenty of choice , but I prefer evening as the fresh food cook is also available, but still plenty to choose from

Been there lots of times, never had bad food, always plenty to pick from always hot and great service. So good we are going on Wednesday evening, table booked for 9 people.

Horrible cold food Chicken wings so hard nearly broke my teeth. prawn toast old full of oil. Cheap narsty food reheated from the night before. Drinks very expensive £2.50 for a tiny bottle of water. Never again felt ill all day.

Our first time going to this venue, having tried Aroma and Spoons before. On going in there was a queue, even though we booked, however this moved quickly, we were greeted well and taken to a table after paying. Drinks station was quick and easily and there was a good choice. However on our first plate we found a piece of what they claim to be mussel shell inside the mushroom which did hurt my mouth. This was quickly dealt with and we were quite impressed by the thoroughness of how this was dealt with and received a complimentary drink. There were a lot of people in the place, the kids running back and forth to the food was off putting and the kids walking round the food eating whilst they went was not nice, however this is a parental issue and nothing to do with the venue. There were also a lot of people touching the food and not using the tongs. That being said both of us were very ill in the night and we wonder if that was the reason. Won’t be going back though.
