The Ship Inn - Chelmsford

We asked for a table in the retaurant but was only offered tables in the bar. The gents toilet was opposite our table the door was broken it banged shut so many times it really ruined our evening. It was about our 6th visit here it was most unpleasant. The menu had changed the food was not to the standard we had previously enjoyed. Not at all sure it was the same chef, the fries were overcooked the fish was dry nothing like the quality of the last time I had the food. We did mention the door banging to the peron serving whilst polite also said there was nothing could be done, so we will not be returning. Its such a shame because we thought we had found a gem of a place until yesterday.

Had another excellent sunday lunch, the best sunday roast we have ever had in a pub, highly recommend, and the staff are lovely

We saw the ship on open table and booked for lunch when we arrived we where made welcome and then we sat down for lunch the starter and the main course where lovely and then we ordered dessert and it all went wrong from their the young girl who brought the desserts over put my dessert down and knocked all the cream down me she then walked to serve another customer and left me standing with cream all over another member of staff came to help their was no manager on duty and the staff where left to deal with it that young girl did even apologise properly and then they told me to send them the dry cleaning bill even though they wiped the food bill off I do think some of the staff need customers service training especially that young girl and their should be a manager on duty
