Big Mountain Cafe - Chemult

Give the Big Ugly a try! I didn’t get around to it myself, but I've heard so many stories about it—it's practically a legend. Instead, I opted for the Mt. Thielsen burger, and it was absolutely perfect. They use Oregon grass-fed beef, which is a big plus. I usually don’t hesitate to voice my complaints when companies deserve it, but it takes something special for me to leave a positive review since businesses should meet our expectations as paying customers. Nevertheless, I felt compelled to share my experience here because it was well-deserved. The ambiance is unique, truly found in the heart of… well, nowhere.

I spent the night here and had breakfast, which was consistently fantastic. The food feels like home-cooked meals to me, and I always choose cafes or restaurants that have a number of big trucks parked outside.

This charming little establishment is definitely worth the journey. The pandemic took a toll on the cafes in this small town, but they have persevered. My wife and I will certainly be dining here again!

As an entrepreneur I have never understood why people think that a business should pay for non-customers to pee and poop! Just because you need to GO, this does not mean that we need to pay for your water, lights, toilet paper and paper towels. Your unplanned moment is not our problem. This place is as hilly as he becomes and I think it's great! The food was delicious and the toothless waitress was very polite. Could this place be a little cleaner? Sure, but who cares. Look in the next rest area, run for the rest room, you should have stopped before you stop at the café....

I have been here many, many times over the years and have always loved the food and the friendly service. The day after Christmas, however, was a disappointment. The cook, who was the I my one there, was surly and rude. We waited 25 minutes for our order, outside in the cold and when it came, the fries had obviously been cold at aome point and refried. They were inedible and when I asked him to make it right he only took the box of fries and turned back to the kitchen, no apologies or anything. If you want good food and service this IS THE PLACE TO GO. Just make sure this guy is not on duty. This is the only bad expwrience I've ever had there. I recommend this cafe to everyone.
