Feedback gevenHad the vegan hot pot and it was great. the hours of eating are a bit difficult, especially as I came from the city (in chongqing at this time lived.) there are some mosquito meat, which was amazing. and vegan moon cake! I would really give it a 3.5/5
The place from outside does not look inviting, often even looks closed. we were a few times, and it was never great. some dishes are ok (like the green fruit with sausage), and the rest is only meh some of them even much too oily. the service is also not great. her yogurt is great, the only vegan yogurt I've found so far in chengdu. I'd say avoid if you can. each Chinese restaurant is able to make a vegan dish for lower price and better taste.
I live in wenjiang, but almost every time I am in the city of chengdu, I come here for the cured kartoffels and veggie jiaozi. the entire menu is vegetarian and most items are vegan. they serve yogurt, so it is not a vegan device, but they can definitely find vegan products. be not deceived by the flesh names! the dishes are made from tofu and tempeh. even if it says chicken or fish, it is not! the atmosphere is beautiful for the opposite, somewhat more refined than some of the other restaurants around the veruan university, but small and intimate. the tables and chairs are not the most convenient, but they do the job. the round table in the window is the most beautiful and comfortable in the restaurant. the biggest difference in this restaurant than others is that the mix of bright tables and well-lit atmosphere means that it can see little quitting or difficultness. many restaurants in chengdu are very dark. that is not one of them! it is bright and cheerful inside! if they don't speak chinese, the menu has full color pictures, so they can show on elements that they want to order. the personal has very little English. prices are comparable to other local restaurants in the opposite and if they order at least one dish per person, it is unlikely that they are starving.
A bit hard to get to near the south entrance to Sichuan University near bus station for 35 and 335 next to the river and bus stop for #1003. This is a clean family style restaurant with air conditioner and western toilet with toilet paper. No smoking. Though the staff doesn't speak English they are very friendly and helpful. The menu is in characters with photos and pricing, mostly 10-30 RMB($1.60-$5) We chose the two different variety trays, 6 items, 18 RMB($3) each, one hot and one not...the waitress warned us. The trays were the same except the main dish with mixed brown and white rice, lightly cooked bean spouts,Bitter melon???, a pickled diced long beans and a seaweed soup with white radish and fake ham. I had the hot: a substitute pork with hot and green peppers which was very nice. My gringo non vegetarian partner had the mild, Pork Ribs??? with pineapple and he figures it is his favorite vegetarian dish ever and will order a full serving the next time he comes. We also had a mixed chopped veggies and ham dish with buns for stuffing, 28 RMB
The exterior of the restaurant may not appear inviting and can even give the impression that it is closed. We have visited a few times, but the experience was never exceptional. Some dishes, like the green pea with sausage, are decent, but the rest are mediocre and some are overly oily. The service is also lacking. However, they do offer excellent yogurt, which is the only vegan yogurt I have found in Chengdu. I would recommend avoiding this restaurant if possible, as there are other Chinese restaurants that can make delicious vegan dishes at a lower price.
