Though the place was completely deserted at the time we entered but were amazed at the varieties of icecream flavors on display. <br/ <br/ We did taste quite a few options Pan flavor; Gulkand; Guava; we settled for Belgian Choco chips with waffle cone and the other one being Tuti Fruitee. <br/ <br/ For a die hard choco fan, the Belgian Choco chips will not disappoint and ditto with Tuti Fruitee die hard fans. My friend also ordered for the Butter scotch and that too was perfect. <br/ <br/ Must say, this place boasts of 56 flavors and most of them will satisfy your tastebuds. Recommended. !!
The day 's dinner was at Marina beach in one of my favourite spots. Sujeeth was the company for my meal and he was leaving back to his native by train from Egmore station. So we decided to hit Egmore for a dessert before bidding adieu to him. Being a regular to Fountain Plaza 's business centre, I 've always wanted to try this ice cream joint to see how good they were. I would have easily passed through their doors about 50 times in the past so when Egmore was decided as the area, this place was the one that came to my mind. <br/ <br/ Fountain plaza need no introduction. It 's been there for ages and I won 't be surprised if someone says it was built around the same time as the Egypt pyramids. For those very few who don 't know where it is, it 's right opposite to Egmore Museum. Thancos is the first shop inside the complex on the RHS. If my memory is right, usually parking charges are present for bikes and cars but it was very late and the group of watchmen were busy floating in the magical waves of Illayaraja on Radio, that they didn 't even bother to give us a second look. We parked it dead front of the shop and decided to give some business to the store which literally had just one person in it (and that too is the one who works there). The store was pretty small but ambience looked pretty good. They had bean bags which was a nice touch. A small TV screen was playing IPL and if it wasn 't for their mind boggling ice creams, I would 've been glued to the tv. On one of the glass walls, a horoscope with star signs and their lucky ice cream flavors were mentioned. Though not a believer of it, I found it to be pretty interesting. <br/ <br/ It was indeed a pleasant surprise to see the array of ice creams they had in store and some awesome flavours I 've never seen before. We tried those 'abnormal ' flavours and finally decided that mirchi, which had an amazing spice kick to be their best one. Other flavors such as Kala Jamun, Chickoo, Paan, Green tea and Malai kulfi were some of their best. But we went with Black currant and Guava thanks for their fruit pulps infusion. It tasted as close as the real fruits which was something really awesome. <br/ <br/ The cost for one scoop costs 70rs for the normal varieties and 80rs for the Belgian Chocolate variety of ice creams. And the best part is, it 's inclusive of all taxes. I felt the price to be very reasonable. Service was really awesome. The person who served us was so friendly and courteous that I tipped him well out of goodwill (Probably the first time I ever tipped in a ice cream parlour). He seriously deserves a special mention. Overall it was a lovely experience and if it wasn 't the fact that we were on a rush to get Suji to catch his train, I would 've been there much longer.<br/ <br/ RATINGS BREAK UP: <br/ Location: 4/5<br/ Parking: 4/5<br/ Reception: 3.5/5<br/ Food: 4.5/5<br/ Customer Service: 5/5<br/ Ambience: 4/5<br/ Price: 4.5/5
#247. [14 May 15] : <br/ <br/ After dinner at Spartan's, we were craving for a dessert before my train journey from Egmore station. Again as per suggestion by Gopi, we headed to Thanco's, Natural Ice Creams at Egmore. <br/ <br/ Food They have around 50 flavors of ice cream. We ordered Black Currant Guava flavored ice creams, after trying more than 10 flavors. 30 40% of ice cream filled with fruit, that was good. Black currant was best. All of them were good, but not awesome like Pabrai's, since we both loves Pabrai's ice creams.<br/ <br/ Special Flavors Mirchi (it has spicy kick), Paan, Ginger, etc..<br/ <br/ Price ₹140 for 2 big scoops. ₹80 for Belgian chocolate varieties ₹70 for the rest. No extra tax/charges. I would say it's very cheap best for the quality quantity they serve<br/ <br/ Ambiance Small outlet, but they have sofas, chairs bean bags for seatings..<br/ <br/ I recommend Thanco's for Natural Ice creams at nominal price, it is the only natural ice cream outlet at Egmore.
Pretty descent place to have good ice creams. Everything is natural and tastes really good. Price is also low. Tender coconut is a must try and it's my favourite too.
Thancos natural ice creams are new in town. They have a huge varierty of ice cream flavours which is a very big PLUS Point but most of the time they do not have all flavours. The ice creams are totally natural with no Added preservatives tastes amazingly good. The Oreo Chocolate are my most favorite.<br/ <br/ The pricing is also low quality is good. Its open untill 11:00 p.m. just for your info.<br/ Overall its a great place to be.
