Good beer great food friendly staff. Bi monthly bingo quiz and live music on alternate wednesdays.
I was dismayed to read KC's critical review of the Royal Marine, which is a traditional village pub whose landlord and landlady, Pat and Sue, could not be more welcoming and friendly. They also provide excellent food and beer at a reasonable price. The pub is small and intimate. The review gives a completely false impression. I was at the Royal Marine with my wife and disabled father in law at the same time as the reviewer and her party. It was sometime after they had arrived that I needed to go to the gents, which I could do only by clambering over their various baby equipment, which was blocking the route. I said nothing but the landlady obviously saw the situation and came over to speak to the ladies. She was the epitome of politeness and what she said was completely reasonable. My disabled father in law uses a walking frame and wheelchair. Wherever we take him he insists that his equipment is stored completely unobtrusively. Pat and Sue are excellent with him. We cannot recommend the Royal Marine highly enough.
Absolutely lovely pub. Couldn't wish for bettter service at the bar. When we decided to stay for a meal the food come out extremely fast and was better than any Michelin star restaurant I've been to.
This is a really welcoming and charming pub. It's not a gastropub, but the food is quite good. The outdoor garden is spacious and features a large area with a children's playground at the far end. It's refreshing to discover a traditional pub like this.
