My scone with butter and jam did not taste fresh or homemade, and I did not enjoy it. My husband's toasted teacake was average at best. The coffee was weak. Overall, the quality of the food was not up to par with other local cafes we have visited. In addition, the prices were exorbitant for what we received. We do not plan on returning.
Awful Attended at lunchtime. “Are you eating in or out?” Asks the server. “In” says we and are told to take a seat…food will be brought to us. My wife asks to use the toilet and is told “we don’t have one as we have plumbing issues “….she is directed to go to the church and ask to use theirs. Church is open but unattended and toilets are locked. She duly reports this to staff and is the directed to go and ask staff at a hotel some distance up the street if she can use theirs? In further conversation the staff reveal they have no toilet or running water for their own use either. This is a food establishment serving a variety of meals with a lot of tables. When challenged as to why they have no facilities another member of staff became very rude stating she does not have to provide them. Looking at other reviews they have had plumbing issues for months. Seriously time for someone from Environmental Health to take a look at what this place is doing!
I have been a patron of this conveniently located cafe for years, stopping in for a break while traveling around Oxfordshire. However, I recently discovered that the new owners have restricted access to the toilets for cafe customers. Initially, they claimed that the cafe did not have any toilets, but quickly changed their story when I insisted otherwise. Despite this, they still would not allow me to use the facilities. As a result, I will have to find a different place to stop for tea and a bathroom break in Oxfordshire.
We popped into this coffee shop/takeaway at lunchtime in the week. Initial signage a little confusing but when we got in ok. I would say it is more a takeaway than a coffee shop as there were only 3 small tables inside that seat two and a few more outside. We sat inside and it is a beautiful room with a lovely big bright window to the front. Everything is served in disposable cups and bags. The baguette choice was huge and my husband said the beef one he chose was delicious as was the coffee. I had the butternut squash soup which also was delicious. I thought it was a cute and cosy place but I can imagine it would feel cramped if all three tables were sat at.
Attractive decor but it’s paper cups and cakes in packets from a self service hatch, a few bare tables round the edge and Covid markings still all over the floor. Not a proper cafe. Any chance of a more welcoming environment with china and tablecloths next time please?
