The food is freshly made and the portions are generous. We stopped in for dinner while visiting friends in the area and had a fantastic experience. We have also been here for lunch before and the food was just as good, although it was quieter. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend this place.
A few American friends were exploring the area with our friends from Chester when we stumbled upon this cozy pub. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with great music playing in the background. The drinks were excellent and we enjoyed a tasty snack of crispy brie with chutney. It's a must-try dish!
I stopped at this restaurant to meet up with my cousin and friend on our way to Manchester. We arrived right when they opened, so the restaurant was pretty empty, which was nice. I really liked the ambiance and the cool furniture. The service was very friendly and the food was delicious. The duck croquettes were excellent, as well as their soup of the day, which was a Potato Nettle cream soup (very tasty, but quite rich).
My friend has heard great things about this place and she decided to do a walk where we could have lunch there afterwards. There was 9 of us and we went outside where there as a biggish garden with lots of benches. Depending on how hungry you are you can select from Nibble and Natter, Begin or Share or Old Farm Favourites. The majority of us bought from the Begin or Share section with a bowl of chips as a side. A couple of us ordered sandwiches which come with chips or salad but the portion is massive! You have to order your meals at the bar and we were served by James the Landlord who suggested a pink Prosecco for my friend and I got to sample the cider before purchasing. We didn't have to wait long for our food to come out and service was always with a smile. The presentation of the food was good. The faggots came out in tiny pots on a wooden platter To top off our lunch it was one of our guests birthday and a surprise birthday cake came out with candles by the Landlord James and a waitress was close behind with plates, forks and napkins. A beautiful lunch in a beautiful setting and we chatted to other patrons as we were queuing up to place our orders. I will definitely be back again and recommend this place. If you like cheese, this is the place to come as they have an extensive cheese menu.
Warm cosy atmosphere and a great selection of locally brewed ales! This place is just beautiful inside and out the kind of interior you 'd dream to have in your own home. Not 1, not 2, but 3 open fires and the odd leather armchair thrown in to make you feel like the Lord of the Manor. And if that didn 't make you feel like home, there 's the 'brandy snug ' a cosy little area allowing dogs! Biscuits included! And if you 're not an animal lover then don 't fret, the main dining area is on the other side of the bar. This is the sort of place you 'll feel comfortable dressing up for a slap up meal or dressing down in wellies whilst on a stroll with the doggy. Now does the food match the atmosphere? Yes. The Three G 's prides itself on having a British menu through and through, this means only British recipe 's and ingredients sourced locally or within the UK. So think the likes of hearty shepherds pie, venison, pigeon and a **** decent portion of haddock and chips. What about puddings? Apple calvados crumble everytime... Definitely try a cheese board yes 'a ' cheese board, because they give you a selection of 3! Landlord James will also recommend you try a brandy to compliment. My favourite? The Somerset Cider brandy with a smooth warming butterscotch flavour. Service it 's not table service but food is served efficiently and the staff are always welcoming, chatty, and willing to give advice about both food and drink. Little tip they don 't take bookings, so if you 're with a big party/looking for a table at the weekend then pop along a little earlier! If you want a truly impressive, quintisentially British pub experience. This is the one.
