Blackie's - Cheshire

I've often heard about Blackies but never stopped in. Today, I drove by and decided to check it out. I tried their famous hot dog topped with pepper relish and mustard, and it was fantastic! The atmosphere is wonderful, and the place has remained unchanged since 1928. The prices are reasonable, and the staff is friendly. I will definitely be returning!

They changed the hot dogs and the chocolate milk brand but this is still the best hot dog stand in the area. Don't forget the relish!

Affordable food doesn’t have to compromise on quality. The service here is impressively quick, taking only about 1-2 minutes from ordering to receiving your meal, and the staff is very friendly. However, the real standout is the flavor and quality of the food. The hot dogs are perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside and thoroughly cooked inside, without being overdone. They strike an excellent balance, avoiding the overly spicy taste that often comes with lower-quality hot dogs, but still offering enough flavor to satisfy. The homemade relish is absolutely fantastic, providing just the right amount of zest to keep things interesting. Paired with nice spicy brown mustard and a warm bun, this meal is delightful. I’ll definitely be returning for more!

This restaurant has been a staple in the Greater Waterbury area for nearly 100 years, and its consistency is a major plus. While their hot dogs are quite famous, I personally prefer their burgers. The food is simple and unpretentious, which is part of its charm. They offer a straightforward menu featuring burgers, hot dogs, chips, milkshakes, and ice cream. Keep in mind that they only accept cash, but there is an ATM available on-site.

Very nice trip of hot dogs with good taste. Only 3 topping options available. Hot pepper sprout was not exaggerated and prices were very fair. I wish they had pommes. 7 On was a little warm. A solid food for those who are budgetary conscious. Be warned: space is very narrow. I sat at the far end of the counter and soon had people swarm over me. I just believe people don't cough around me while I have lunch. And the people grabbed me to order, get napkins and put blows on their dogs.
