The first time i tried a torta de tamal was in Mexico City, and the only other place ive been able to find them was in Los Angeles. I found these in Redwood city and had to try them. They offered tortas i didnt even know they made, like the torta de chilaquiles or champurrado de galleta. Alongside the traditional ones. Usually tortas de tamal come with beans and sourcream, but these didnt need them. The salsa they came with was enough to make them good.Id personally never been to Redwood city, i was surprised when i saw it looked just like Mexico. You could find 5 different restaurants within a block and the vibe everyone had was just immaculate.
