We try at least one new restaurant during Chicago 's Restaurant Week, and this year we chose Fifolet. We made a reservation at the start of their brunch schedule, and were the only occupied table (3 people). Service was friendly but slow. The restaurant was out of items on the Restaurant Week menu, which was pitiful and suggests a lack of planning. The starters (cornbread and gumbo) were the only items we ended up liking on the menu and were also the only items we felt were accurately represented by their menu. According to their menu, the sandwiches were supposed to be served with chips we didn 't receive any. The po ' boys were uninspired and bland. The crispy chicken sandwich was exactly that but fell completely apart because there was so much stacked in it. The beignets were greasy and the peach bread pudding had no fruit just a creamy sauce with a hint of peach. The atmosphere was dull, there were gnats at our table the entire time, and it was an overall disappointing experience. We will never return.
The restaurant decor is cute and cozy. The food was delicious and very spicy. I went with 5 friends to celebrate my birthday. I thought the food portions were a little small. The service was great! The young lady who serviced our table was very nice, patient and knowledgeable. I will definitely try it again to see how the food is off the regular menu. This was Restaurant Week, so it was a bit loud and crowded.
Hit me up food was amazing however for a New Orleans style restaurant it's missing the southern hospitality
Fifolet was a great choice for my restaurant week experience. The food was outstanding and the service was prompt. The hurricane will knock your socks off. I ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes as an extra side, Gumbo Fifolet, Shrimp Grtis and Beignets. I am glad the restaurant made the decision to only offer the restaurant week menu, though disappointed, the server explained this was due to the demands on the staff and kitchen and to have appropriate wait times for food. I will be back to order off of the main menu.
