We are back at Gussie?s despite Reem always food poisoning. the brown butter ravioli would have been DELICIOUS if it were not the brown butter?. my dish (spaghetti w heirloom cherry tomatos) was fab and quite refreshing. reem got the fatuccine alfredo. this was the highlight of the table for me not except it was THAT delicious. i?m usually no cream sauce girl because of my milk intolerance, but that was nice. fataytay got the parpadelle what was ok but nothing special? ? overall, very tasty! would be back def for the bread (not pictured bc i forgot) and for which will again get food poisoning this time???? only time will say!!!???????
This place puts a lot of thought into its menu. The additional effort of the cook to use the best and more difficult ingredients to make this place a jewel of an Italian restaurant. The Gnudi is a generous help of Ricotta filled balls in brown butter sage. A much lighter farewell than Gnocci. The Carbonara is made with Guanciale (pork cheek) instead of pancetta (pork belly), which has a higher fat content, but was more buttery and delicate texture of the traditional dish. Ultimately, dine-in free signature bread is amazing!! Its garlic bread with Marscapone cheese, which gave it a creamy base with the crunchy toast of bread. And the price point for this unique takes Italian fare is higher or better rated than other Bib Gourmand places. The parts will not disappoint. I can't wait to try their other menu items. The staff is very friendly and worth the diving experience.
3.5 Review We came for restaurant week, but the Gnudi that was on the menu for selecting Chicago website was not on the menu when we arrived. Our server would have looked after less. The free bread was the highlight of our meal. The presentation of the meat balls for restaurant week was definitely overlooked. Both the sausage and the meatball were good, though nothing remarkable. Wild Boar Pasta was the least popular. Although the pasta aspect was perfect texture and consistency, the Ragu was so crowded, we had to ask for cheese to soothe the spices. Crockery were reasonable for handmade foods, but flavors from pasta dishes left something to be desired. Customer service was fair, but if you have to arrive early or wait for your table, be ready to wait near to eat cartridges.
We were led here from reviews of the previous restaurant, which is no longer here. The food was well prepared, but not overly amazing. However the pre-meal bread was stuffed with cream cheese and frankly saved the rest of the meal. I would probably go back just for that bread and give it another chance.
