My wife is from London and having also lived in London, where the Indian food is out of this world, we have tried all kinds of places in Chicago. This is a one woman shop and she has a gift. Off the beaten path and worth it. If you try anything, the Dal Palak, spicy, is a must.
I’ve been going here for years and they never disappoint. The food is delicious with big portions and good prices. Highly recommend
I've been ordering the Chicken Vindaloo from here for years now and it still to this day is the best Vindaloo I have been able to find in Chicago. I'm not sure how Luzzat is able to be so consistent for such a fair price (I work in food also so I know how hard consistency can be for a restaurant that isn't charging incredibly high rates), but they are and I am incredibly grateful every time I get to eat from here. It's incredible food and flavours and I get the sense I'm eating from a very skilled operation every time.
There are three great Indian places in Chicago. This is 1 of them. Don't f around when you order. Also when you get to the place, you know what you're getting yourself into. Use common sense for expectations. This is spicy grade A hole in the wall knock your hidden gem socks off. Don't sleep on it. Atmosphere is on purpose. They don't need your attitude. Just your money and your love. Your greedy gullet needs their food.
The veg dishes are delicious and spicy! Best samosas ever. Handmade and delicate pastry, never frozen. Great for a long dinner with friends. Can be slow service, but friendly. Go to Taste across the street for a $10 bottle of wine to drink with your meal. I read the rest of the reviews, and agree that Luzzat can be a tiny bit inconsistent. I have been there many times in the last four years and once they forgot to add salt and one time I got a chicken dish I didn't order with my take out. It's true that the packaging could be better, and the curry is a bit oily, but I have had great food from Luzzat and know a lot of other people who love it. The eggplant and okra dishes are my favorite, as well as the palak. I have been underwhelmed by their meat which can be too dry (chicken) or lamb (too salty). Stick to veg classics.
