I've been waiting to come here for years. I was not disappointed. There's a reason why this place has been going strong for over 100 years! Great food and friendly service!

Margie’s Candies has by far the best ice cream around town. Two delicious scoops are pretty much a meal in itself. Freshly made and delicious, can only highly recommend this place to all of you. The ice cream connoisseurs amongst you will not be disappointed!

I am embarrassed to admit that I have lived here for almost 20 years and only recently stoped in Margie 's Candies on Armitage. I had always heard of this iconic spot, but had never stopped in until a friend recommended it to me. I’m glad they did!Margie 's Candies is a hidden gem in the heart of Chicago, and I was blown away by the experience. From the moment I walked in, I was charmed by the cozy and nostalgic atmosphere. It truly feels like stepping into a time capsule, with its vintage decor and classic diner vibe. The ambiance alone is worth the visit, but the real star of the show is the food.I was surprised to find out that Margie 's Candies is not just a candy store, but also a restaurant. They have a full menu of diner classics, like burgers, sandwiches, and fries, but the real draw for me were the ice cream sundaes. And let me tell you, these sundaes are massive! I ordered the Turtle Sundae and was blown away by the size of the dish. It came piled high with vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, caramel, nuts, whipped cream, and a cherry on top. I couldn 't believe how delicious it was, and how much food I got for the price.Another aspect of Margie 's Candies that I love is the pre made chocolates available for purchase. They have a wide variety of chocolates and candies on display, all beautifully packaged and ready to go. I picked up a few boxes to bring home as gifts, and they were a hit with my friends and family.But what really makes Margie 's Candies stand out is the service. Despite how crowded it can get, the staff remains calm and collected, navigating the busy space with ease. Our waitress was attentive and friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. It 's clear that the folks working here take pride in their work and are dedicated to providing a top notch experience for their customers.In all, I can 't recommend Margie 's Candies enough. It 's a true Chicago institution, and I 'm so glad I finally stopped in. Whether you 're in the mood for a classic diner meal, a massive sundae, or some delicious chocolates to take home, this place has got you covered. And with its charming atmosphere and top notch service, you 're sure to leave feeling satisfied and happy. My husband went to Margie's about 15 years ago before we met and has always wanted to take me. We were in Chicago for a concert and finally made the trip!The restaurant had such a vintage feel, like nothing has changed in it from the 60s but that's what keeps its charm. There are a ton of options for ice cream sundaes and the presentation was so fun! The ice cream was fantastic, reasonably priced and the toppings were warm. So much fun!!

You can’t go wrong with ice cream as it basically sells itself. However, the fact that this place has been operating for over a 100 years now in Chicago is more than enough reason for anyone visiting or living in Chicago to stop in. Their ice cream bowls are also very reasonably priced. You might catch a line on a weekend or on hot days but they do have to-go orders. They also sell chocolates, chocolate dipped marshmallows, pretzels, and other sweets.
