R Public House - Chicago

This place really surprised me of food, service, atmosphere, everything was extraordinary. Somehow you can't think of a complaint. We tried the bacon wrapped dates, kimchi fries, smokehouse Burger, and the fish and chip Sammie. The drinks were also so good and strong. We tried some cocktails. Do not skip this place if you are in the area.

I live right around the corner so this is my thing if I don't want to go too far for a bite. Always so friendly and the bacon-wound dates are fire! They organized a 21-person brunch group that I organized with absolutely zero feet.

I ordered the Coq au Vin at the R Public House yesterday only because I did not want to order the usual hamburgers, wings or bar food (which are very good here). I wasn't sure what I would get in a pub, but the Coq au vin was excellent. The sauce was dark and intense, with carrots, onions and meaty chicken. How could you go wrong when the boss is a former cook at Kiki's Bistro?

Always a pleasure to eat here! We caught the tail end of happy hour (3-5pm) and had great burgers, per usual. Delicious and low-key place just a few steps from the train.
