Siam may not be the most authentic Thai restaurant in Chicago, but it is certainly the most welcoming spot for Thai students around the University of Chicago. This place has been serving students for generations, and the food feels like home to me. The catfish basil is a dish we always competed for the last bite, and the fried tilapia topped with a special sauce was a staple during our celebrations. The last time I visited, a friend who was there for the first time ordered a simple soup, and it turned out to be surprisingly delicious! I will definitely return for a meal the next time I’m at the University of Chicago.
This take-out Thai restaurant has been a lifesaver during my time in Hyde Park. I would be remiss not to leave a glowing review. I highly recommend it! They offer a wide variety of vegetarian options as well. The menu is outstanding, and the flavors are impeccable!
I am a regular here since it’s basically across the street from me. It is the first restaurant I ate at when I moved to the city and I’ve never looked back. The food is flavorful and fantastic (both take-out and dine-in), the wait-time is consistent, and the staff members are so sweet, friendly, and courteous. I recommend anything that uses their flat rice noodles like Pad Siew and their Panang curry. Also- their lunch/dinner special is insane, sooo much food.
Great food. Decent prices. Usually a full house on a Fri or Sat for dinner.Vegetarian options: You can get tofu with all the curry dishes.
