Firstly on arrival we could barely get through the door it was rammed around the entrance part of the bar with young drinkers. Apparently a younger crowd who have allegedly been barred from three other pubs in Haslemere are now descending on the Mill at weekends to drink. We thought we’d walked into a private party. No effort seemed to be made to get these groups away from the door. We couldn’t check in at the bar like usual and we’re left hanging around like spare parts until we got someone’s attention. The noise in the main dining room was not conducive to a pleasant meal and conversation. After asking we were moved to the room around the corner. The Mill really needs to tackle this quickly otherwise they are going to lose diners. Secondly food not up to scratch and portion size, specifically of the mussels, was very mean. Some of our food was lukewarm when it turned up. And you are going to sell mussels on the menu as a main course you really need to be serving more than 11 of them I counted. Go back to offering smaller starter and larger main portions £10.95/£17.95 respectively) or move the mussels to starter menu to avoid disappointment. On a positive note, the pie was excellent and the waitress was lovely and did her very best to improve our experience. Hence the two stars. I’m not sure we’ll be back for dinner again, lunch time might be a safer bet.
I met up with friends to take a walk around Shottermill lakes with our dog. We had booked a table for lunch and were met with a lovely and friendly welcome. The pub had a very pretty and cosy interior, and the food was superb - reasonably priced and portioned just right! The staff were great, very efficient and friendly. We will definitely be coming back here for more walks and lunches!
We enjoyed excellent lunches. The salmon burger and the fish and chips were delicious. The French fries were probably the best I have eaten. The staff were charming and the service was quick. Thank you Thank you.
I went to this restaurant with friends for Sunday lunch. The staff were welcoming and attentive. The menu had a good selection overall, but there were limited gluten-free options available - just a burger or fish and chips. Unfortunately, there was no gluten-free roast option, which was disappointing. The fish and chips were delicious, but not exactly what I was craving for a Sunday lunch. Everyone else at the table enjoyed the roasts, which looked good. The lack of gluten-free options might prevent us from returning, despite the good food.
We arranged to have our family wake at The Mill. Every aspect from booking, menu choices, quality of food and service was absolutely fantastic. The Mill were superb.
