I opted for a lunch special of Sussex Steak Ale pie with veg chips mash was an option). My wife chose a 3 egg omelette with cheese and mushrooms. We also ordered a 500ml Long Man beer and a large Pinot white wine. Drinks were served quickly. The slight wait for our meals was more than compensated by the high standard of both meals. This was the best steak pie I've had in years, accompanied by a beautiful rich gravy. We've already recommended the Buttery to friends and we'd definitely eat here again. £33.70 incl. alcohol which was great value. Thank you.
We ordered two lattes and crumpets at this restaurant. The coffee lacked flavor, and the crumpets were extremely thin. Despite being provided with plenty of butter, they were cold and unsatisfying.
We entered this lovely cafe feeling fortunate to find a quiet spot. We ordered two afternoon teas, only to be informed that we had ordered the last fruit scone. After waiting for over 30 minutes and seeing the scones sitting on the counter the entire time, we were told they were ours, only to have them given to a group of newcomers. The staff made weak excuses for the mix-up. Overall, the service from the unprepared staff team was terrible.
Beautiful interior to this splendid cafe, a true gem with outdoor seating too. Sandwich top notch smooth coffee happy family. The staff were attentive and polite, never letting us feel forgotten. Please, please don't miss out!
Omelette with small amount of salad. Very average compared with how they used to serve it. And £2.90 for a glass of orange juice. Ripoff. I know they have to pay overheads and staff but really? Prices now so inflated that I eat out much less often. Their loss.
