The Stag - Chipping Ongar

Had the most beautiful Sunday roast here. it was a dish with well cooked diner served in a beautiful old pub.

Nice pub with lots of outside space. Good for younger children as the whole place Is fenced in and has a climbing frame. Good drinks. We didn't have the food but the menu looked good.

Quick stop for the kids to grab some lunch, sat in the marquee, nothing to shout about, literally just a marquee with some old tables and chairs, did tell job, kept the wind off us, the waitress was new, literally first day, she was so nervous bless her but really polite, we've all had a first day, she did well, kids food was good, beer was fine, play area good, garden is starting to look tatty, beginning to look like a dumping ground between structures, they have made a good effort with the garden, just need to maintain it.

Massive thanks to Chris and the team at The Stag. Their hospitality was fantastic which is lost in most places these days. Service and food excellent. Well done and can't wait to return.

I’m so glad I found this lovely place. Absolutely amazing service and delicious food. Especially after I was let down for dinner by another restaurant (long story)
