Our server, Silvia, was attentive and loved to practice her English with us. So many choices at the buffet, but the green Chilaquiles were the best! And the view of the pyramid and the church was beautiful.
I tried the Mole Poblano and it was very delicious. My friend had the Chile en Nogada and I was not a fan. I know it's a very traditional dish especially in the months of August and September but I just didn't find it appetizing whatsoever. It's too sweet for my taste. The chalupas were delicious!
The food at La Casa de Frida is excellent. I especially liked the Sopa Azteca, great flavors and very colorful. My son had the ribeye steak for his birthday and he really enjoyed it. All the items we had were colorful and tasty. The newer restaurant in San Andres is beautifully designed around a pleasant garden area. There are pictures and murals of Frida. The tables and chairs are colorful and comfortable. There is also a great play area for smaller children at the San Andres restaurant.
It's hard to find a decent early morning breakfast before 11 am in Mexico. Using Tripadvisor, I hunted thus place down and found that it exceeded my expectations. I arrived about 930 on a Saturday and easily found a table. The buffet was excellent. Wide selection of fresh fruit, fresh juices and pan dulce to start with. Entrees ranged from ham and eggs to pork adobado. They even have desserts! Especially enjoyed the cafe de la olla. I am staying in Puebla so I probably won't visit again but I would definitely be a repeat customer if I were closer!
Do not let yourself be of the theme restaurant and tourist look. The food is excellent, cheap and the service was also fantastic. We recommend that you visit Cholula during your time.
