The rooftop restaurant and bar at the Veranda Resort. Lower floor has indoor seating for 54, an outdoor area for another 30 and the upper floor (curiously branded separately as 'The Jetty ' despite having the same menu) is all outdoor for about 40. Food: 7/10. I ordered the ahi tuna tartare. It was very good let down only by the over generous use of a very sweet balsamic reduction of some sort. Unfortunately the courtesy bread is of the consistently soft type, rather than having a nice crispy outside. Service: 6/10. Swift, attentive, no issues. It was deathly quiet though. Price: 6/10. Reasonable. Average check: THB750/person Design/Ambience: 4/10. Everything below the rooftop (ie the arrival sequence from the all day dining below) is quite unpleasant. The lower floor felt like it 's closed no diners, lights off in some areas. The rooftop itself is pleasant, very modern design with sunken seating. Unfortunately much too dark to read menus and quite dangerous to walk around in the dark as there are various pools and things one could end up face down in. Decent background music. Suggestions: This venue needs soul and character. It doesn 't help that the menu has a bit of everything. I feel if the cuisine had a strong point of view it would do much better. The entry sequence needs to be improved, it 's too convoluted and inconsistent in aesthetic also no need to brand the rooftop separately when it has the same menu.
Great experience on 4 star hotel restaurant.
