I haven't stayed in a sandal without it so I can't compare, but I know other guests complaining (for a number of reasons) without the butler service. Resort reasons aside with the butter service made food gluten-free so easy!! They have the same three butlers all week and they coordinate every meal, they brought breakfast to our room, brought lunch to our beach chairs and went to dinner to speak personally with the kitchen that does not guarantee contact with gluten. When room service was ordered, they ensured that our room was labeled gluten-free. It's hard to choose a favorite restaurant because we loved eating at all! Chi (Asia Fusion) was absolutely incredible (the cook came out to tell me he would use separate pans for everything I ordered, we enjoyed the food at the Greenhouse, it was amazing to get fresh juice/smoothies in Heart and Sol honestly, every restaurant we have tapped was incredible and with so many options. Our butler spoke to the kitchen at any meal and made the order seamless (many times gf bread was ready for our table before I arrived) and there was always a gf dessert option. I think our trip was much smoother with the Butler Service BUT the resort treated gluten-free so well that I am positive you would have a good trip without it!! Tips for gluten free travelers The donut shop has two selections of gluten-free items separated from the other donuts, but they also make you a selection of regular donuts (you just have to ask for the order for the next day) This is an absolute must if you are gluten-free because they are sooo good! The café has gluten-free muffins on the back if you ask them When it comes to fried foods, you want to make yourself clear about the cross contact (e.g. for hash-browns/fruits that are to be cooked separately or avoid fried food) There is a gluten-free pizza in the pizzeria they have taken all precautions to ensure that it is safe Every time we (without butler) or ordered room service, the staff started to "allergenic" and so you have the opportunity to let them know immediately that you need your products gluten-free. The menus are not well marked for gluten-free, but I think that's because almost everything on the menu can have a gluten-free option, you just need to ask
