Unknown Chapter Coffee Roasters

I was recommended Unknown Chapter during my recent trip to Christchurch, and it certainly lived up to the hype. Situated in a central location, the place was bustling at 9 am on a public holiday. I chose the veggie breakfast, which was delightful and came with a generous portion of halloumi, mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach, a delicious potato rosti, sourdough bread, and two perfectly poached eggs. It was excellent; I couldn't find anything to complain about. However, a touch of chili in the relish would have taken it to the next level. The display cabinet had a great selection, and the ginger tea was quite nice as well. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Overall, it was a fantastic experience—A+.

The food was the highlight. It was beautifully presented, bursting with amazing flavors, and the portion sizes were just right. I had the smashed avocado, which was delicious and had a wonderful texture and taste. My partner chose the blueberry compote porridge, which was equally delightful and had a distinctive texture. I also appreciated the numerous gluten-free options available, which is always a plus for me. Overall, I had no complaints about the food. The coffee was also excellent, and I highly recommend trying it. The ambiance was fresh and clean, creating an appealing environment. While it might have lacked a bit of character, it didn't detract from the overall dining experience. The space was modern and open, filled with light. Service was decent, though nothing out of the ordinary. You order at the counter, which is efficient but can sometimes make the customer service feel less personal. However, that's not a significant negative. In conclusion, this is a wonderful little place that truly focuses on what matters most: the food! It was delicious, and the coffee was great—what more could you ask for? I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Christchurch.

Good vibes, great food and coffee for a good banter with friends or family. The avocado salad with chicken is definitely a must if you decide to go there! Definitely will go back.

I got the avocado toast meal (can’t remember the exact name) but honestly it was so damn good!! It had dukkah, seeds, multigrain bread and was so delicious. It is a bit on the pricier side but it is well worth it, especially if you’re going for an occasion!! Would recommend 10/10
