Wanted some traditional French cuisine and Le Marché did not disappoint. My partner had the French toast which was excellent and was using a dense bread that had a perfect balance. I ordered the special which was Pork Cheek that was super tender along with a rich sauce that was also great with the baguette.<br/ <br/
Although it may be a bit hidden away and surrounded by business showrooms, the restaurant has a great selection of food and coffee. They offer a variety of quiches and soup of the day at reasonable prices. I tried the quiche with goat cheese, spinach, and figs, along with a flat white which were both delicious. They also have a tempting array of pastries and sweet treats to choose from. The staff, mostly French people on working holiday visas, add to the authenticity of the place. Additionally, there is a French marketplace next door where you can purchase imported cheeses and other French goodies.
Fantastic food and great service. The staff are helpful and friendly and the food arrives quite quickly. The coffee is good too. What more can I say.
I recently visited the cafe's satellite location at the Newtown vege market on a Saturday and was extremely impressed with both the service and the quality of the food. Over the past four weeks, I have purchased around nine or ten different cheeses, all of which have been fantastic. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and allow customers to sample various cheeses before making a purchase. The selection of cheeses is impressive, and some weekends they even offer sourdough bread. Overall, I had a great experience and would highly recommend this cafe to others.
My first trip to Le Marche warranted more than just a coffee so in true Hobbit style I opted for a second-breakfast, consisting of French omelette with cheese and a side of butter/herb mushrooms. The atmosphere is pleasant and the food was excellent though what brought me here was access to a French delicatessen, cheeses and breads. What is available is excellent though I'd like to have seen a fuller selection of French treats and delicacies. I'm sure other things are available on request and greatly appreciate the availability of any of these food items so very far from France. I didn't ask if their French sticks were baked fresh locally (presumably) and could keep them busy just baking me bread; it was delicious!
