Malt Shovel Inn - Cinderford

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID! I made an online reservation and thankfully paid with a credit card. When I arrived, the place looked abandoned. I tried calling their mobile number and sent an email, but received no response. A local resident approached me and explained that they only open when they feel like it, but that I definitely shouldn't go inside. The establishment is in terrible condition, and I wouldn't have stayed even if it were free! All I wanted was a refund, which luckily I was able to claim back. However, I lost money on the gas for my four-hour wasted trip. This place should not even be listed online.

Very old building approximately 1100 much of it original. Friendly staff. Rooms: 4 Service: 3 Location: 5

Later that evening, we ventured down to the bar but found the locals inebriated, so we quickly returned to our room. The next morning, we went downstairs for breakfast only to find no one was there at all. We decided to go out for the day, purchasing our own milk, tea bags, and sugar since none had been supplied in our room while we were away. Additionally, there was only a little toilet paper left, and I had to ask for more. A young staff member was kind enough to fetch a roll from another room for us. That night, when we returned to the bar around 8 PM, we found it had to close by 10 PM due to licensing restrictions. The following morning, we tried to grab breakfast again, but still no one was present! This time, a toaster was available along with a few small boxes of children's cereal, but there was no bread, butter, milk, or any dishes or utensils. At that point, we decided to pack our bags and leave. I would strongly advise against staying here ever!

The accommodation is so filthy, you will need a 'Shovel ' to get 'Inn ' and out of the place. Very disappointing. Rooms: 1 Service: 1 Location: 3
