Fantastic restaurant. One of my favourite places to eat on a cold night. The curries are full of flavour. I had the Sri Lankan Style Rice and Curry which gives you an assortment of curries. This is a good introduction dish to those who haven't tried Sri Lankan food before. This coupled with some fresh roti makes a delicious and satisfying meal.
Wow, this place is fantastic! I'm in Canberra for work and found the Banana Leaf early in this stint. I've been back one night each week without fail. The menu is great: my fave is the Arnhem Land Barramundi. The service is spot-on, friendly and attentive. It's not noisy, even when it's nearly full, so you can still have a relatively quiet dinner without needing to shout to be heard. Well worth a visit.
Hard to fault.. I ordered a vegetarian sri lankan curry and rice. It was pretty excellent. I was a bit disappointed that, upon me asking, they said they couldn't do a kangaroo curry (Kangaroo steak was another option on the menu and seeing as they do a beef curry, not being able to do it with kangaroo is a bit weird). The waitress didn't even go and ask the chef if they could do it, but I didn't feel like enquiring any further. The curries I did get was excellent, and very different from your standard food court curry. One of them was some sort of fruit and onion curry, which was both weird and delicious. Would highly recommend.
