Had organised for a bunch of friends to get toegether to have dinner here and for my girfriend to catch up with people she hadn't seen for ages. Several of her friends didn't go into the Feast restaurant as they said it was very average food so they stayed outside in the lounge area having drinks while we ate. You pay per head and get to eat as much as you want from a buffet of food. There is a huge range of food to choose from - soups, battered food, chips, asian, indian, italian, roasts, vegetables, seafood, pizzas, salads, desserts. I liked the indian dishes. The desserts were very nice - even went back for seconds. The food could have been a little hotter. Some of the friends who were waiting for us eventually came in and they too liked the desserts. I came here many years ago and it was pretty average then. This time around it has improved considerably for a smorgasbord buffet type style of restaurant. I've been to buffet style restaurants before and have found that when the dish gets low it takes ages before there is a fresh batch. Here this didn't appear to be the case - the chefs were constantly topping up with new batches of the food and checking on the food levels. Drinks are a little pricey though. The place is lacking atmosphere - needs a bit of sprucing up.
First I must point out to the people who are highly critical of this venue that we aren't talking The Conservatory or the Melba. Those places are great but they cost more than $75 a head while at Feast a Senior will pay, at the most $17 & on Tuesday 2 for $25.50 plus $15 each on Wednesday. The roasts that we have eaten have certainly not been drynor has the food been less than hot. There is plenty of variety & the drinks are cheap. What more does anyone want?
You don't go to a vast featureless suburban barn expecting fine dining, but you might hold out hope of some decent food amongst the deep fried offerings. But nothing here is worth selecting. The troughs to explain what the various flops represent - "Asian style pork" etc. The champion of the offerings is an ageing soft serve "ice cream" machineThe whole experience resembles farming more than dining - but if this was a farm the RSPCA would be getting involved.
Wife and I attended buffet on evening of 29th November 16. Mid week. Cost for buffet is $26 or Seniors price of $18 per head. Found service to be swift with polite waitresses. Have been to this resteraunt many times before. Found the buffet food to be very good with wide variety of main dishes. Also found the selection of deserts to be wide and of very good quality. Main problem here was overeating. My fault not the establishment. Unable to find any fault on the evening. All food well presented and all appears very clean. Will return soon. I am surprised by some of the previous reviews and can only comment on my findings on the night. Seniors price was very good.
