It's popular for post-work drinks and pre- or post-theater visits, so it tends to get quite busy. The atmosphere is wonderful, whether you're inside or out on the street, and the drinks are reasonably priced. It's a hidden historical gem that definitely deserves a visit.
The Nell Gwynne Tavern in Charing Cross is a historical and hidden gem steeped in local history. This Grade II listed pub was once beloved by King Charles II and was named after the local celebrity "Pretty witty Nell." The pub, rebuilt in the late 1890s on the site of the old Bull Inn from 1667, has a distinct and charismatic atmosphere. Decorated with ornate wall art, dark red wallpaper, and a cozy fireplace, the pub is a step back in time. I enjoyed a pint of Guinness at a reasonable price and received good service from the staff. Visiting this old and historic pub was a delightful experience, allowing me to imagine the bustling atmosphere of years past. Overall, The Nell Gwynne Tavern is a hidden gem in London and a must-visit for pub-goers. (Visit date: 17/03/22)
A cozy little pub tucked away on a side street near the Adelphi Theatre. They offer a wide selection of beers and spirits, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. The price of £3 for a pint of Tribute is fantastic!
A delightful pub that offers the foundations in a very unforgettable environment. it is tiny and the people spill often into the gasse that only adds to the ambiente. it has a cold beer and sarcastic bartender. What else could they ask for?
Lovely hidden historic London pub just off The Strand. Beer £3.70 per pint.
