The food quality was excellent for the price of £20 for three items, much better than the crowded and mass-produced food at Costa. The tables were well-spaced and there is also the excellent opera house nearby. I highly recommend checking out the recently revived opera shop as well.
Having booked to see The Sleeping Beauty we decided to treat ourselves to the special Sleeping Beauty Afternoon Tea which did not dissappoint. The setting itself is extrordinary and it was wonderful to wander around the venue and take in the building itself. The Afternoon Tea was fantasic, the attention to detail on the cakes and sandwiches stunning and even the tea itself amazing. I was so taken with the Red Velvet tea that was available that I have now ordered some directly from the provider. The staff at the restaurant were so attentive and did not rush us at all. The experience itself made a special day out with my mum even more special.
We booked for afternoon tea and it is a fabulous venue. The service was good also the pastries. We got 4 very small sandwiches. The scones were small served with a small pot of jam and 1 small scoop of cream on one plate for 2 people. We asked for more and were told they only make enough for each booking. It was very poor value. Aside from the views dont waste your time or money as you can find better value elsewhere.
This is a lovely place to come for tea, beautiful surroundings, loads of space, and friendly staff a bit of an oasis in Covent Garden !
Arrived deliberately early for ballet to relax with tea and something to eat in lovely cafe space. It was cold, the tables and counter areas were sticky and dirty and despite being very well staffed the service was very poor. A pot of tea translated to a very large double walled plastic beaker with no handle into which a teabags was dumped by disinterested staff. Sugar and milk is d- I-y, despite prices. The tea tasted revolting in the beaker. Moving on to the upper bar/cafe area we switched to coffee which was good- served in a cafetiere. However, again the tables were sticky, it was chilly and staff again stood around chatting loudly rather than serving customers. Cakes and sandwiches are reasonable quality but on the small side and very expensive. All in all a most disappointing experience. Why so many staff and such poor customer service and surroundings?
