Dean Organic Market - City of New York

I was happy that this market and deli was open late on a Sunday night. I was able to buy most of what I needed and the staff were helpful. It's surprising big.

I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. The pricing feels very deceptive; the prices are inconsistently displayed, and the cashier seems to ring up items at random prices. One day, you might pay one amount, and the next day, it could be different. They never offer a receipt, and the register is positioned so you can't see the prices as they're being entered. If you’re purchasing a lot, you might not notice, but if you’re just buying a few items and find that your total is a dollar or even two more than expected, it becomes a concern. Once you start to notice, it seems to happen frequently. I’m not sure if this is a policy to earn extra money, evade taxes, or if the cashier is pocketing cash, but it’s definitely worth being cautious here.

I went in to order a turkey sandwich with mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion, and extra cheese. I even confirmed at the checkout that I wanted extra cheese and was assured I would get it. However, when I got home, I discovered there was only one slice of cheese. Additionally, the lettuce was old, with brown spots and dirt on it. And who puts one and a half slices of tomato on a hero sandwich? I can’t even tell if I was charged for the extra cheese because the checkout guy didn’t say a word. Overall, it was a terrible experience and definitely overpriced.

This sandwich shop offers some of the most delicious sandwiches in Brooklyn, and the prices are quite reasonable—something you don't often find around here. The staff is incredibly friendly and provides fast, efficient service. I ended up ordering from here for the second day in a row, and I definitely plan to return!
