I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. The food was very subpar compared to the prices we paid. Everything was poorly cooked and lacked flavor. My coworkers and I were short on time, so we had to return our meals to the kitchen to get them prepared properly, but unfortunately, the bad taste and preparation didn’t improve. I feel it's important to share this feedback because it's unacceptable to pay high prices for such poor quality food. If they want to stay in business, they really need to make improvements. Additionally, the service from the staff was unhelpful as well. I can't recommend this place; my partner was even sick all night after eating the shrimp that our unfortunate photographer had ordered.

I've been visiting this hotel for over 20 years. I understand that COVID has affected businesses, but I was shocked to find the menu so drastically changed. In an ambiance that beautifully evokes the early 1900s, I think the choice to shift towards an oriental theme is a poor one. The Buddha burger was tasty, as were the fries and garlic broccoli, but that was the only dish on the menu that appealed to me. It's a real disappointment for such a lovely place.

What shocked me the most was being "legally requested" to pay $7 in tips, considering the beer was only $9! When I asked for a printed bill, I was told the calculations were incorrect. Apparently, I was "supposed" to pay a 15% mandatory tip, despite the fact that I didn't even have a proper meal and was close to having an allergic reaction if I hadn't carefully read the menu. I suggested to the management that they should train their staff to avoid using terms like "legally" and "mandatory." If I hadn't asked for the bill, I might have been expected to pay 78% of the total as tips!

We had a great experience! The staff was very polite, and the setting was lovely.

My friends and I are from California, and we enjoyed breakfast at Murals on 54 every day. The breakfast there is outstanding! They offer a delightful selection including strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, yogurt, pastries, French toast, and many other options. The staff is friendly, helpful, and courteous. We will definitely return when we’re back in NYC.
