Larrys Tamales - Clarksdale

I am not sure why Tamales are so popular in Mississippi. We saw places specializing in this Mexican dish everywhere. We did stop in here to try some here in Clarksdale and they were awesome. This is just another place we enjoyed so much in this charming small town.

Recently, I went on a road trip and found myself in Clarksdale, Mississippi. The locals were incredibly friendly. I made it a point to try all the hot tamales that were available in the area. I didn't know much about the history of the dish, but I was told that tamales were great for keeping food fresh for those working in the hot sun. The hot tamales, a Delta specialty, were especially delicious in the warm weather. However, the best tamales I had were at Larry's, recommended to me by a local. I can't remember what else was on the menu, but those tamales were truly exceptional. I hope that Larry is doing well during these turbulent times and continues to make his amazing tamales. I have never had tamales better than the ones at Larry's. I have tried many tamales over the years, but Larry's are the best. They truly are the king of tamales. If you are within 100 miles of Clarksdale, MS, make sure to visit Larry's.
