Will not be staying here at this hotel again ! Room has a musty smell, decorations are from the 70’s, air unit appears to be non-functional, and you can hear the neighbors crystal clear. The place doesn’t appear to be that clean. Owners are not professional and had quoted me two different prices on the same nights. This was a last minute booking , but never again.
The most awesome place to stay. Very rustic. I love the room!
I made reservations for two nights two months in advance. It took three attempts to reach someone on the phone, as they didn’t always answer. Eventually, I got a hold of Brenda after a couple of days. She took my reservation without asking for a credit card or even my phone number, saying I should just check back a week or two before our arrival. This felt off, so about three weeks before our stay, I mailed a card confirming my arrival, including my name, address, and contact information. On September 28th, just three days before we arrived, I called again and spoke to Brenda. We got there at 5:15 PM on Friday, October 1st, but neither Brenda nor the woman who assisted us could locate our reservation. I referenced my notes, which included the details of my previous calls. Brenda seemed impressed that I had taken such detailed notes but informed me that room #6 was the only available option, featuring a full bed and a twin bed. Another staff member mentioned room #10, but Brenda said someone else had taken it earlier that day. It was clear they had not reserved a room for us. We accepted room #6, but then Brenda warned us that the TV might not work and instructed us on how to reset the DISH connection upon turning it on. The property appeared very run down; the yard was unkempt, and we had to walk through overgrown weeds to get to our room. After dropping our bags off, we returned to the dining area for dinner. Once we returned to the room, things went from bad to worse. The room had a foul odor, likely from something spoiled that had been spilled on top of the mini fridge, which smelled like sour milk. Only one lamp in the room functioned. The smoke detector was lying on the dresser next to the TV with no batteries, and there were cracker crumbs and a wrapper on the dresser. The bathroom floor was in terrible shape, and the carpet was filthy, with old dried grass scattered throughout. When I turned on the bathroom faucet, rusty-colored water came out from the ancient pipes. There was only half a roll of toilet paper on the shelf, none on the roller, and there were no amenities like soap. I usually bring my own shampoo and conditioner, but I at least expected soap. There were no cups or glasses in the room, not even to use to drink water. Looking under the sink for more toilet paper or soap, I found the entire inside of the cabinet covered in mold. The ice bucket was also there, completely covered in mold, with about four inches of what used to be water, now filled with floating chunks of mold. To top it off, there was no cover over the light bulb in the bathroom ceiling. By this point, we were very upset. It was late, dark, and there were no other hotels available within an hour and a half through the mountains. Everything in Broken Bow and Hochatown was fully booked due to the Bigfoot festival that weekend. We had no other options and decided to check the beds for bed bugs just to ensure we could at least stay inside rather than sleeping in our truck. While there were no signs of mice, roaches, or bed bugs, when we lifted the sheets, we found some sort of plastic trash in the twin bed and a broken adult toy in the full bed. Using a flashlight from our truck, we noticed white stains on the blue bedskirt beneath the toy. It was evidently clear that the sheets had not been changed between guests. Exhausted and frustrated, we were left with no choice but to stay.
The room was clean and the staff was very helpful! We will definitely be returning. Thank you!
