We love this authentic English experience. The layout is well done with enough space to have a quiet conversation. There is also a pretty patio with plenty of misters helping keeping you cool. The ambiance is calm and friendly, from the greeting to the service. The decor, which was refreshed recently is bright and fresh and the wall of flowers is definitely a place to take your photo. There are lots of their wonderful selections of their teas to purchase as well as a British Royal theme with some quirky but fun decorations throughout. They have also brought back their hats selection so you can dress the part if you feel in the mood. Food wise there is a good selection from the full afternoon tea, to choices of just sandwiches, soup of the day, salads, home made quiches, baked potatoes with either tuna, chicken or go proper English and have it with baked beans (yum, it's not sweet like the US versions). There is also cottage pie (ground beef) and cakes and scones of course. They offer gluten free options too so it's very inclusive. As Brits living here I can promise the scones are freshly made and are still warm when they arrive at the table and some of the best we've had anywhere in the world. They come with lots of Devon cream (thick and spreadable) and strawberry jam or you can ask for their home made lemon curd which is great (we usually order one of each). Their tea selection is truly good and they bring it in small tea pots. You can switch after your first pot and they are happy to top you up with hot water as often. For those not familiar with how the British drink black tea consider having it with milk instead of creamer (the fat content in creamer makes the taste unpleasant). Herbal and fruit teas as well as floral (Earl or Lady Gray) don't have milk. This is a great place to have a celebration, do something different and switch the world off for a couple of hours. Enjoy.....
The place was beautiful. The food was just so so. Other teas we have been to the food has been very good. Our scones were very dry, the salmon sandwiches had no taste. The deserts melted while we enjoyed each others company. Disappointed.
What a delightful experience. My granddaughters and I had a wonderful time going for tea. The shop and outside is decorated for a fun ambiance. The formal tea was good. I would like to also try some of their other lunch dishes which sounded delicious.
Love going here and bringing out of town guest but this time it was too hot inside. Im sure its because we were close to the door leading out to patio and people going in and out. It was just too hot and we didnt really enjoy ourselves so we left in the middle of eating. Wont stop me from going again just plan differently.
