I had a delicious Maryland Crabcake- by far the best I have ever had in NJ. (Crab lovers know it’s almost impossible to find a good crabcake in this state. Service was friendly and warm. We noticed there are picnic tables with a nice river view for warm weather dining. We look forward to eating in that setting this summer. But we will definitely be back before then! This is a BYO that also offers bottles of wine on the premises.
What a gem! What a find! Casual seafood stop with cheerful staff who had such pride in their food. Great place to meet friends and have a really great lunch! Can't go wrong with the fish and chips or fish tacos. The Brussels sprouts were incredible.
We just had a lovely lunch at Thompson's Specialty Foods! Delicious perfectly sauteed halibut with a delicious beet salad , awesome oysters on the half shell, and a delicious burger with the best onion rings! And both Amy and Lori were very sweet and accommodated our requests :
This restaurant is really nice and somewhat expensive, but that's okay. You tend to get exactly what you pay for and this place backs everything up with what they ask you to pay for their menu items. I never considered lobster to be a poor person's food unless you climb into a Time Machine and go back to the old days when only peasants and impoverished people would eat lobster since it used to be cooked differently. Long story short, it wasn't until French chefs began cooking lobster fresh that it became a wealthy staple of the tony elitists. That's my culinary history lesson for everyone. Back to Thomson's Specialty Foods: the lobster rolls here are very enticing at $26 for a 4 ounce or $44 for an 8 ounce lobster roll and I will try it next time I promise. So far everything I've tried has been absolutely deliciously stellar from the cauliflower chowder to the special limited time salmon last time to the Pan Seared Chatham Cod which I am eating right now as I type this review on my new Natural Titanium iPhone 15 Pro Max. If you have the means I recommend this restaurant over anything else in Clinton if you're interested in fine American cuisine and especially anything seafood related.
I ordered take out of the Angus burger described as Apple-bacon jam, homemade BBQ sauce, provolone, onion ring, brioche roll. Choice of chips or fries . I requested well done. The hamburger was raw and there was no apple bacon jam. No homemade BBQ sauce unless you consider a squirting of ketchup. The onion rings were soggy as was the lettuce. The only good things were the fries but at $17+ this was a complete fail.
