At Germain the pastry shop is excellent. In summer I also recommend the ice creams in cornet or in cup to enjoy quietly at the shaded terrace. Great variety of creams and sorbets all delicious without forgetting the whipped.

We bought three different types of quiche and a Panetone for lunchtime picnic. All round disappointing; the quiche was thick and heavy not at all like the proper French light, buttery pastry with a delicate filling. It was dense and leaden we ended up giving it to the birds. But worse was to come. The Panetone was completely dry, with an over sugary outer layer. Honestly, the worst one we 've ever had clearly this baker knows nothing of the delicious, moist, fruity inside that these cakes are renowned for. We thought it was probably very old a post Xmas cast off....honestly, don 't be conned by the 'sweet exterior ' this is a place to be avoided and is an example of the increasing number of French food outlets that are an insult to their tradition.

Having ordered lunch, we found a sharp piece of plastic or glass in the salad. No apology offered and no immediate replacement as you would expect. Baguette arrived as an afterthought instead of with lunch. To top it all an unreadable Bill was then proffered which was a 28€ overcharge as we had been double charged for the main course, again no apology offered. A shocking service, avoid at all costs, lots of better places to eat.
