Cafe In The Park - Colchester

On Saturday morning, I went for a run in the park and then decided to have breakfast at the cafe. I found it odd that it was empty, considering the parkrun event, but soon realized why. The staff was rude, there were no vegetarian breakfast options available, and they were not willing to accommodate any changes to the menu for vegetarians. Despite these issues, we decided to stay, but the service was slow even though there were no other customers, and it was not cheap.

I had a terrible experience at the restaurant. We went to get ice cream at the cafe, which we love, but it seems like they have replaced the previous great staff with two very young employees. They need to train their employees on how to approach and politely ask customers to leave if necessary, rather than calling a manager unnecessarily. We were not even greeted and rudely told that they don't serve people with dogs. My friend decided to leave the park. They called a manager for no reason, when all we wanted was some ice cream. The employee continued to be rude to me while gossiping with another staff member in another language, which I found unnecessary. When I asked her to stop, she sarcastically laughed at me. It's clear that they need to work on their customer service if they want to keep their loyal customers happy. I used to love this cafe for their friendly service, but this experience really ruined my day.

We went to this restaurant for breakfast and decided to try their breakfast baguettes. We ordered two baguettes and a pot of tea for two, which seemed like a reasonable choice. Despite there being no other customers at the time, the employees behind the counter did not greet us and seemed uninterested and lethargic. When I requested some hot water for my tea, I had to ask twice before receiving a response. I even had to go up to the counter to get it myself. The baguettes were freshly made with bacon, egg, and one looked nice, but the sausage in one of them was of poor quality. It seems like they might be cutting corners by buying the cheapest ingredients available. Additionally, one of the tea pots had a broken lid. Overall, the food was decent but the service and attention to detail were lacking.

We thought we were coffee tomorrow. a pleasant place, as most other tables were empty, but the coffee was expensive, came in a tiny cup and didn't taste very good. it would have been okay if half the price, but I would have. a much more beautiful cup expected for the price. very disappointed and we will not think there for coffee when we go to the castle park!

This place does a roaring trade when it is fine, and there aren't many tables, so you may need to find a park bench or sit on the grass. Very decent coffee, and huge Danish pastries. A bit of a queue, but worth it. The...setting is lovely, just behind the Castle.
