Our waiter, Dave, and his support team were impressive. We ordered three appetizers: flatbread, meatballs, and calamari. Two of the three were great, but unfortunately, the calamari was a bit disappointing. The entrees were perfectly portioned and served hot. The drinks and desserts were top-notch, and the prices were very reasonable. I would definitely come back again!
Paolo’s Italian Kitchen in College Station was precisely what I was looking for in terms of Italian cuisine. I ordered the salmon piccata and absolutely loved it. The restaurant was quite busy that evening, so I made a reservation in advance. We started with the steak and the arugula flatbread as appetizers, and for dessert, we had the truffle. The view into the restaurant was a bit odd, almost suggesting it might have been connected to the Hilton at one point, but aside from the view, the food was fantastic!
I ordered Chicken Alfredo and requested broccoli as an addition, assuming there would be an extra fee, which I was perfectly fine with. However, I was disappointed to find that the portion size was rather small for the price. The waiter also asked if we wanted cheese on our meal, and when he added it, he held the cheese high over our plates, making a mess of not just our meals, but the entire table too. By the time he was done, it looked like we were at a children's table! To make matters worse, I discovered that my meal didn’t even have any chicken in it. The waiter took my plate away and brought back a new one with yet another cheesy disaster. The Alfredo sauce was incredibly soupy—there was no thickness or consistency. Every bite splattered sauce onto my black shirt, and by the end of the meal, I looked like I belonged at the children's table myself! I attempted to discuss my concerns with the hostess at the front, but her response was simply that the prices were listed on the menu. When the waiter returned to our table, I raised the same issue, and he repeated the same line. Eventually, the manager came over and echoed the same sentiment: "the price is in the menu." It felt as though they had received this complaint before and were merely on autopilot, responding like they had rehearsed it. I apologize for not checking the price of the broccoli before ordering, but honestly, I—and I believe most people—wouldn't expect it to cost as much as a small appetizer!
I was in town for work, so I found this place next to my hotel. I didn't have a wonderful meal like this in years, usually something is done when I look, but not this time. The Entree, Pinot, Soup, Music (Sinatra), Lighting? It was all I like. The room was simple, open, but clean. Mikey, my server, gave the right amount of attention and was lighthearted enough to make my evening better. The tomatoes basil soup was so rich and creamy that my taste buds could not believe what I used. I can't wait to come back.
It was a wonderful time for myself, my girlfriend, and our friend. The food was phenomenal. The only issue I had was, portion size. The chicken parmesan had a nice amount of chicken, but lacked a bit on the spaghetti. I would definitely go again though
