Bakery Mathias Ecke - Cologne

A local bakery that has a vegan breakfast/brunch on 1-2 sundays a month (info: website). On that day they have vegan milk and vegan whipped cream. They also take part in vegan events, so I love that they are engaged! The staff is very polite and helpful and it is a family business. I like the atmosphere! I had a vegan sausage in bread/dough which was amazing! The onion cake is also very good! The brunch bread with mushrooms was tasty but nothing special. The cheesestick was a bit too hard for me but good!

Not the first choice in our Veedel, the bread I bought there got stale really fast. The vegan sunday offerings are nice, but not on the same level as their (local) competitors.

For a vegan, satisfying our sweet tooth when out and about is still difficult so I was really happy to find a bakery that had so many vegan options! I had the marzipan and the biscuits that come with the coffees. Everything was delicious, If i had more days I would have tried out the croissants and the apple turn over too. The staff is very friendly and will help you find what you're looking for, nothing is labeled vegan though so just ask one of the staff and they will help!
