Vapiano Koln Habsburgerring - Cologne

From the outside this looks like a simple buffet type Italian style restaurant, once inside you discover you really do have to queue at the counter for your food. At first, I was not impressed. So we stood, 5 of us, waiting in line and then finally giving our order to one of the counter staff (there is a row of staff). Then they proceed to select the pasta ordered and the ingredients. The pasta is cooked in an automatic water boiler to perfection whilst the other ingredients are cooked in a wok right before your eyes. The smells were amazing and then, when we finally tasted our food, we all agreed it was totally amazing. Four of us ordered different pasta dishes, one ordered a pizza - we all tried each others food - it was all totally marvellous. All in all, this is a very different approach to eating out. It is true one has to wait in line, but the taste and freshness of the food made it so well worth the wait. The wine was good, by the way, too!. This is a chain of restaurants operating in Europe, there are many in Germany but only a couple in the UK so far, we will certainly try this again - highly recommended!!

Great time with my family and friends- had a really nice pasta and the coffee was good, and good coffee can be hard to find in Germany!

If you want to have a familiar food (meaning a break from local food) when you are travelling then this is a place you can rely on. We have been visiting this chain since the summer and with them you play it safe, you know you get fresh ingredients (they make their own pasta) and tasty food.The risotto was a bit smaller than usual but the overall experience was really good and with a very reasonable price (less than 30 euros for salad, risotto and 2 beverages)

We are regular users of this chain across Europe. We visited this branch of the chain in mid afternoon for a late lunch. The restaurant was not full but there was a distinct lack of any management evident on site which led to chaos at the servery's and queue jumping uncontrolled by staff. The restaurant had also run out of a number of desserts. It was not efficient, not speedy and not like the usual Vapiano. We had no-one to offer up our disappointment to save for the cashier.

4 *WHY?Well, its as easy as my gratitude that this part of city center having a good quality n food/beverage range) convinient food. Not bec the German needs that badly, but its as simple as having a break from Grandpa Roland and Uncle King for awhile... ;-)Like other Vapiano I have visited (only in Germany) before, nothing special @ Ambiance but that doesnt mean I dont like it! Its cozy, clean and modern (again comparing to the interior of the reg. Mc D, Pizza Hut and Co.). As I was kidnapped lovingly to have a quick lunch there just a few days after the grand opening, the service was chaotic - but hey they were friendly and did our dished in the right order.Food? NOT BAD-Sofar we've been here for 3x. Got Pizza, Pasta, Cakes/Tiramisu and Coffee. Everything was nice!
