Although there was a slight delay with the host and our seating, he entertained us with a captivating story as we waited. The dishes were hearty and full of flavor, with the fries being one of the standout elements of the meal. The service was a bit slow, but very attentive. Overall, it’s a fantastic experience worth trying at least once, and it would be a fun spot to take kids. We visited during the week without a reservation.
If you're passionate about aviation, this restaurant is a must-visit. The walls are adorned with an impressive collection of memorabilia, and there's even a converted KC-97 aircraft on-site. The service was good, although there was a slight wait due to a staff shortage that seems common everywhere lately. The food was satisfying, and you have the option to dine inside the plane or enjoy the spacious outdoor dining area. The owner was present and made sure everything was going smoothly with our food and service. I also encountered a really nice staff member. It's a unique experience, so I highly recommend giving it a try!
This restaurant is all about the decor. Talk about cool. The plane that is outside the restaurant is actually part of the restaurant. Yep, you can eat in the fuselage. How cool is that? What's even better, you can go up in the cockpit and sit and play around. Also, there are literally hundreds of things to look at. Now, let's talk about the food. I give this a 3 star rating. I ordered the Philly cheese steak. It was not a big sandwich. Not large at all. The fries were super good, but again, the sandwich was meh. We also had potato skins, which was really tasty. The nachos were great... According to my wife. She ordered them as the main course. They were plenty big for a main course or appetizer.
A fun and unique place with good food and great service! Stopped in early on a weekday and got treated to a booth in the plane with no wait time. The gentleman who sat me told me the history of the restaurant as we walked through the large dinning room (big enough to fit a plane wing in) past the bar, and up the steps into the cabin. The servers were both friendly and helpful. They suggested some great food and drinks and were happy to chat with myself and some of the guests as we waited on the food. Many of the people working in the restaurant are former military. The pricing was about average for a sit down restaurant around this area and the quality was similar as well. What really stood out were the fries. They were potatoes wedges cut thin and fried perfectly. The only downside was getting undercooked meat. I've gone back a few times and each time my order comes out a little more rare than I ordered it. If you're a picky person just order one stage up from normal. Seems to produce the best results. Another thing that made the wait time go quickly was a visit to the pilot's seat. They encourage guests to visit the front of the plane and sit in the pilot's seat. It was a very fun time and made waiting with younger ones much easier. All around a fun and unique experience that's worth visiting while in Colorado Springs.
This is my second visit to this airplane-themed restaurant for lunch, but it's the first time for my wife and kids. We came on a snowy day when the storm was quite fierce, yet we were lucky enough not to have to wait and were seated immediately. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was wonderful. Our children had a great time playing in the cockpit of the KC-97 tanker. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a unique dining experience. The server, who was dressed as a flight attendant, was very friendly. Overall, it's a fantastic spot for lunch, and I will definitely return.
