I have a dietary restriction that prevents me from eating any pork products and so I was disappointed that this place didn't have any beans I could eat (they'd run out of black beans), but they substituted some mixed vegetables that were so good I ordered another serving of them. It was corn sautéed with caramelized onions and tiny pieces of zucchini. I ended up also getting a side of steamed veggies to compare with the mixed and they were also great. The prices were below average when compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area. I probably live about an hour away but this was better than any Mexican restaurant I would drive past to get here and it's definitely worth a return visit.
What a wonderful experience! I traveled to Columbus for business and finished up early, so I decided to grab a bite. I was pleasantly surprised to see how busy the restaurant was at 11:15. We started with guacamole and queso with chips. The queso was tasty, but the guacamole was outstanding. I requested some hot salsa, and they provided four different flavors, including their new habanero salsa, which was fantastic. My friend Blake ordered a giant burrito that he raved about, while I opted for a lunch special that came with a taco, chili relleno, rice, beans, and a generous serving of guacamole salad. I managed to eat the taco and a few bites of the relleno, but I was already full from the chips and salsa, so I had plenty left over for a big dinner later. The service was exceptional; we were offered extra chips, and our water glasses were refilled twice without us even asking. The best part? The bill, including tax, was under $20. Los Lunas is definitely worth the 20-minute drive for me, and I’ll be back soon!
If you find yourself in Columbus, KS, you absolutely must dine at this restaurant. I’ve previously said that I wouldn’t eat Mexican food in a state that's not next to Mexico, but let me assure you—this place is worth it!
I eat here often and the food is absolutely delicious! It does not look like much from the outside but it's so cute and homey feeling inside! The only reason I wouldn't give 5 stars is because the service is not the greatest at times, one of the servers that worked there (not sure if she still does) was quite rude any time we went in there and had her. the other ones are nice though!
When we went in the waiter was not wearing a mask. When we ask him to put one om he said no he does mot have to wear one. So we left. Cherokee County may mot have a mask mandate but I DO especially for people who cook and serve my food.
