We’ve been here twice for brunch now. The first time we came it was pretty empty for a Sunday and our service and food was pretty fast. I got the shrimp and grits and my partner the burrito. Both delicious. We also had to get a side of the mushroom gravy because I was very excited to try it. It was so, so good! Next time we were there I got the biscuits and gravy just so I can have a lot of it again. The biscuits were very flaky. Bacon was just okay, mine was a little cold. Prices are very good compared to some of the other brunch places in the city. Plenty of parking. Can’t wait to try the dinner menu.
My friends and I had a great time here. I had the fish and chips and the old fashioned, and both were absolutely delicious. Atmosphere was great, super friendly staff. I parked easily in their lot. I'll definitely come back with my husband and hit up the rare bourbon I spied on the shelf. Great place!
Be careful if you have food allergies!!! I came with my family and I told the waitress that I have an egg allergy. The waitress and I worked together on what I could eat. I was led to believe that what I ordered (three cheese tater tot, grilled cheese, and tomato bisque) was safe. After eating our meal, I started having an allergic reaction. Thankfully, I got back to my hotel room in time before it got worse, but, I experienced the worst allergic reaction I have ever had. Thank god I didn't have to use my Epi-Pen but I was shaking, nauseous, and in pain for hours. I have had this allergy since I was 12 and I know that cross contamination does not bother me. So, I know that one of my orders had egg and I was led to believe that it did not. Since this experience, I now have major anxiety about eating out and placing trust into restaurants.Dietary restrictions: Be aware you may not find anything you can eat if you have dietary restrictions. Besides my allergic reaction, it was hard to find anything on the menu that fit what I could eat and was not outrageously expensive. In addition, my sister has MS which leads to many dietary restrictions. She had a very difficult time with the menu. The menu is small and there isn't much flexibility for you to work with.
Everything was sweet. Breading on fried chicken was sweet. Collard greens were sweet. Corn bread was average but bourbon honey butter it was served with was sweet. There was no balance in the dish. No acidity or savory flavors. Entree prices seem high for what was offered. White Chicken Chili Special was $22? $22 for chili? It sounded good but not paying $22 for a bowl of black eyed peas, great northern beans, and chicken. Oddly, the drinks were priced very reasonably. $10 for a cocktail with Buffalo Trace seemed low actually. I could have 2 of those for less than a bowl of the Chili. (Scratches head) Had Scallop appetizer. It was VERY good but only 3 scallops. Seemed more like an amuse bouche than an appetizer. The Italian Cherry Gastrique was outstanding. The service was okay. However, our salad and entree followed our appetizer so closely that we hadn't even eaten our 3 scallops when they arrived. The server warned us that there was a wedding party upstairs so we placed our order quickly. Maybe the salad and entree arrived quickly so the kitchen could clear the board ahead of the wedding party food. Nevertheless, it seemed rushed. Had wanted to try your place for a while. Was underwhelmed by the food, the service, and the value. We'll give it another try in the spring. Maybe there will be some seasonal menu changes that will be worth a return trip.
