This location has a drive thru which is fairly rare for a Subway. The interior is fairly clean and can get busy at lunch time though there is a decent amount of seating. This location doesn't seem to have free WiFi as other locations do. It's a standard Subway, so they have all the usual sandwiches. Subway has tried to up its game over the past couple years introducing some higher quality items like carved turkey and rotisserie chicken. They still have the standard lower quality lunch meat type ham and turkey, though. The vegetables always look and taste fresh. Calorie counts for everything are clearly marked. You sandwich will be customized to your heart's content. They also can make any sandwich a salad or a wrap as well. Staff here are very hit or miss. Today they were super friendly and smiling. The other day the service was more minimal words and mostly head nods. There can be a short line at lunch time. Check your mail as Subway often sends out pretty good coupons. Check your receipt, too, as there's often a coupon for next time. You can pay securely with your phone using Apple Pay. Overall a fairly standard Subway location with inconsistent service.
Most often, people are wise to expect only the basics when it comes to fast food; which is to receive the food you'e paid for. Well, don't expect to have even your most basic expectations met at this Subway. I was in Grandview visiting a friend who was in the process of moving, and called in advance to ask if I could bring him some lunch. He said he'd like a veggie sub from Subway as it comes with no additional condiments. No problem, I tell him. So, I roll to the drive through at this location and place my order: a 12 veggie sub, with no additional condiments with cheese on the side and two large Cokes. The woman operating the drive through asks what I want on it, so I reiterate I want a veggie sub with no additional condiments. She gives me a total and I pull forward. The guy, Conner, at the the window greets me and I pay. I had to ask for a carrier for the drinks; no big deal. He hands me one, then the bag with the sandwich. I notice it feels light but I've never ordered a veggie sub. I arrive at my friend's home with his lunch. He comments he's starving so I hand him the bag. He dives in only to find 12 of toasted bread with a slice of cheese on the side. Needless to say I'm not happy. I call the location to ask what happened and they tell me barbecue I didn't specify what veggies I wanted on my sandwich... well, I get nothing. So, I go back to this joke of a restaurant for a refund and after entering am met with attitude by the woman who took my order who has come out of the back to get in my face about how I was at fault for being served and charged for toasted bread. I spoke to the manager the Monday following the incident where he made excuses for what happened, saying I needed to tell them explicitly what vegetables to put on the sandwich. I told him I assumed the veggie sub had a standard recipe like everything else on the menu. He says that's not the case. A call to their corporate office confirmed what we all know. And that is restaurants, fast food to gourmet, have recipes for their menu items.
I really appreciate that this Subway has a drive-thru, but they rarely get my order correct. Today, instead of my iced tea, I got some kind of Coke, and my melt wasn’t toasted. I had to go inside to have them remake the sandwich. Also, when I order a melt, I've gotten different meats on it on different occasions. I'd like to think it's due to new staff, but this issue has been ongoing for some time. The staff is nice, but it seems I need to go inside to ensure my sandwich is made the way I want it.
Yeah, a new Subway!!!...and with a drive thru. Life is good. I am one of those people who just can't get sick of Subway. It's the same. It will never change, and I love it! I have never considered a drive thru for Subway. With all the toppings to choose, I thought for sure it would just get too darn confusing. Not so! Subway has been around long enough to develop quite the loyal customer, like me, who knows the menu inside and out. Okay, so I don't, but I do know what I like. It makes the drive thru ordering such a great idea. I haven't ventured over for lunch, looked a bit crowded, but dinner time wasn't bad at all. It's perfect for the quick, hassle-free, filler-upper.
This Subway location often seems to be understaffed, which can lead to slow service. However, the sandwiches are generally well-made and tasty.
