We sat at the bar but there were lots of tables and cool screens to give the idea you're in a submarine. I asked the happy hour deals and was told $5 drafts. When we got our bill for cocktails only they were about 20-25% off so that must also be part of happy hour, unless the menu prices are wrong. The first drink I got, Through the Fog, was a cocktail version of a London Fog latte. It was good but would benefit from maybe some lavender syrup. My other drink, Parlay, was very unique with matcha flavors. The bartender was really nice and personable. There is a slight risk here that you might hear a movie spoiled. We had to kind of plug our ears at one point as other people in the bar were talking about the movie we were about to see. The prices here are a bit steep so I wouldn't say it's somewhere I'd go all the time but I would stop in again for a drink or two.
Such an interesting concept and even more thoughtfully executed. It really is a unique little bar that is built around a fun atmosphere for guests. The staff is also extremely nice and knowledgeable. I got an alcoholic slushies and got to sit next to a porthole I'm not sure many people get to say that's something they've experienced in their life so on experience alone 5/5 and once you add in that the drink I had was also immaculate I wish I could rate them higher
I was excited to go here at first, but then was surprised to find that this place shows the movie 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea on loop, featuring Captain Nemo played by an actor in heavy blackface pretty uncomfortable to watch. Also, it took 25+ minutes for us to get an order of Ohio Nachos covered in room temp and congealing cheese sauce.
One word HORRIBLE! The staff was horrible the food was worse. The only way they survive is they are beside the movie theater.
This is a shame really. The Gateway is one of my favorite things in life. I'm a member and see tons of movies there. This is a little offshoot from the theatre and posing as a bar/restaurant. Really though it's just the movie theatre snack stand with seats. If they want to be considered a real bar/restaurant I think they should have more than just the stuff available at the snack bar. They should use real silverware and not plastic ! and not always be out of a TON of stuff. I mean always.
