Zapata Mexican Taco Shop

This is a solid taco shop! I tried a variety of tacos. The pollo asado was decent, but it could use some salsa to enhance the flavor. The al pastor was excellent, and the carne asada was good as well. I'm not quite sure why they included pinto beans with it, though! Overall, I had a great experience. They offer a nice selection of beverages and the salsa bar is well stocked. I would definitely return to try more!

This place is such a fantastic local treasure that I almost hesitate to share it. I’d prefer to keep it a secret! However, I want them to thrive, so I encourage you to visit for lunch. They offer a diverse selection of tacos—small but affordable—so you can easily indulge in three if you’re feeling hungry. Typically, I go for two during my lunch break.

The food was fantastic, and the cook did an excellent job. However, the person taking orders at the front was incredibly rude for no apparent reason. It seemed like he was annoyed just to be doing his job. He huffed when we asked to pay with two different cards. Then, he started mopping the floor while still wearing the same gloves and served our food, touching all the salsa containers and placing them on top of the tacos. It was quite off-putting.

The owner/manager of this restaurant is incredibly lazy. They get visibly annoyed when you ask for basic requests like limes, and when the salsa runs low, their response is simply, "I'm out." This level of incompetence is frustrating. Additionally, the menudo was essentially just watered-down broth with a bit of red food coloring and a scant amount of ingredients. It's time for places like this to either close down or be sold to someone who can improve the quality and service.

The Zapata fries here are absolutely delicious! The portion size is generous for the price, and the presentation is beautiful. They’re honestly the best loaded fries I've ever tasted. I can't wait to return and sample other items from their menu, like the nachos or tacos. The food was served quickly, and the staff were friendly and courteous both in person and over the phone.
